It’s a very special place to us, and it means a great deal when others experience it in the same way — whether that’s relaxing in the peaceful surroundings, exploring the Norfolk coast, or simply enjoying something a little different. Here are a few kind words from guests who have stayed with us.
Aylsham windmill is perfect for viewing the wonderful county of Norfolk. Centrally located you can visit both the North and East coasts in a short drive of 20 minutes. Norwich is also only 20 minutes away. Everything you would wish to see in Norfolk is wonderfully close. The accommodation is fantastic. It has everything a holidaying family would need from character, history and lovely views over the rooftops of Aylsham out to the fields to a kitchen equipped with every possible piece of equipment you could ever need. The rooms a rustic Norfolk country style with a warm homely vibe. Really clean and a lovely collection of miniature animals on every nook and cranny. The wooden timbers are beautiful and add a real coziness to the property. The parking is ample and easy to use with a lovely outdoor area for Al fresco dining in the evenings after a busy day of seeing what wonderful Norfolk has to offer. Finally the hosts - Janet and Tim - go the extra mile to make sure you are welcomed and pampered from arrival to departure. They are nearby, but leave you to enjoy your stay, safe in the knowledge that if you need them they are there for you. They also leave a lovely array of welcome goodies to make your stay feel extra special. They are also knowledgable on the local area, so do ask for advice and also for some of the wonderful history of the property, which is fantastic. Do also make sure that if you are feeling suitably famished that you visit the Black Boys in Aylsham, which is only a 15 minute walk into town. They have a sister pub - The Recuiting Sergeant that is well known - both serve fantastic pub food with more than ample portions. The prize is also very reasonable and the quality is some of the best pub grub you can ever have. Norfolk has so much to offer and Aylsham Windmill is the perfect base for a fabulous family holiday.

Aylsham Windmill was a perfect place from which to explore Norfolk being so centrally located. It’s very well appointed with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Tim and Janet give us a lovely welcome, with some treats to start off a relaxing week. It’s an easy (and flat!) walk into Aylsham with an abundance of great places to eat and shop. Further afield you have Sandringham, Blickling, Holkham and Felbrigg Halls….and the beautiful Norfolk coastline with birds, seals and plenty of sand! We particularly enjoyed leaving the car at home one day, walking part of Marriott’s Way to the Bure Valley Railway, the train into Wroxham then hiring a boat on the Broads. If you don’t mind a few stairs we would recommend the Windmill as a great place to stay!

This was our second stay at the Windmill and we had a great time again. It is so amazingly well provided and comfortable and Tim and Janet are excellent hosts. We went to Cromer and Blickling and had a lovely afternoon tea at Biddys in Aylsham. It's a great area to explore.

My friends and I had a very enjoyable short stay at Aylsham Windmill recently. The owners, Tim and Janet, were very welcoming and helpful. The welcome pack they provided was above & beyond what was expected and was thoroughly enjoyed by us. The accommodation is comfortable and quite spacious, even with five of us staying. Everything is spotlessly clean and well maintained. We didn’t have time to visit much of the surrounding area, but would recommend Blinkling Hall which is a comfortable walk away. We also visited Cromer for a breath of sea air a browse round the many independent shops. Would definitely recommend this special location.

"A wonderful stay
A lovely welcome was received from Janet and Tim and the additional treats (coffee, prosecco, chocolate and cake) was a nice surprise. We stayed for 3 nights in their cosy windmill, where we were able to easily the visit the coast and Norwich. Supermarket with easy reach and Aylsham centre was walkable. A number of independent shops and cafés. A lovely stay, would highly recommend."

Amazing rental property.
We had the most amazing time in the windmill, we have never stayed anywhere that is so well equipped, there was everything needed and more.
The windmill was comfortable, clean and in an amazing location.
We would definitely recommend staying here and if we ever visit Norfolk again, we will be booking here.

"An Excellent stay in an excellent location.
The accommodation is first rate, with everything you need. The hosts were friendly, helpful and charming and there was a lovely range of welcome treats for our arrival. The windmill is an easy walk of the town centre where there are a range of shops, restaurants & pubs. I would highly recommend this very unique and comfortable home."

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Wonderful Windmill. Janet and Tim are excellent hosts – super friendly and helpful. The windmill is very well appointed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The welcome gifts were a lovely surprise. We strolled in to Aylsham and found plenty of shops and a good selection of pubs and restaurants. All in all a great weekend was had by all. We will be back I’m sure."

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Great place for new year break. We had a wonderful stay here with friends over the new year and would highly recommend the beautiful windmill for a break. The village is lovely and only a 10 minute walk away. The black boy pub/hotel was the perfect place for our New Year’s Eve meal."
