Introduction

Aylsham Windmill is a converted cornmill and an 80ft brick tower, so its unique structure means access is more limited than a typical holiday home.

With the exception of the entrance level, all rooms are accessed via stairs. The staircase follows the shape of the building and becomes slightly narrower as it rises.

This means the property may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility.

Pre-Arrival

  • The windmill is located in Aylsham, approximately a 15-minute walk from the town centre
  • Regular bus services run from Norwich to Aylsham
  • The nearest main railway station is Norwich
  • A map and directions will be provided prior to your stay

Arrival & Parking

  • Private concrete driveway with space for up to 3 cars
  • The owners live on-site and will welcome you on arrival

Entrance & Ground Floor

  • Access via a 3-inch step into the property
  • Entrance leads to a small hallway with utility room and cloakroom
  • A staircase of 11 steps leads to the first floor

Living Area (First Floor)

  • Open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area
  • Accessed via a standard-width internal door
  • Comfortable seating, dining table and entertainment facilities

Bedrooms

  • Bedrooms are arranged across the upper floors
  • Second floor: one double room and one twin room
  • Third floor: one king-size bedroom with more space
  • All bedrooms are accessed via stairs

Bathrooms

  • Ensuite shower rooms are located on the second floor
  • Showers have a step up
  • The third floor bedroom has a larger ensuite with a bath and shower

Kitchen

  • Open-plan kitchen with standard-height worktops
  • Equipped with oven, hob, fridge and essential appliances
  • Good lighting throughout

Stairs & Safety

  • All main living areas and bedrooms are accessed via stairs
  • The staircase narrows slightly as it rises
  • The top two floors have emergency fire escapes with vertical ladders

Outdoor Space

  • Patio area accessed via a step from the driveway
  • Gravel garden surrounding the windmill

Additional Information

  • The property is strictly non-smoking
  • No pets have been accommodated in the windmill
